Fort Mountain dusk

Growing up, when I looked out from the porch of my grandparents' farmhouse in north Georgia, I could see the familiar profile of Fort Mountain off in the distance. It's one of my favorite places on earth.

Ukiyo-e geisha with wisteria

I love Ukiyo-e Japanese painting--something I got from my artist mom. At the time, I wanted to recognize the masks women often have to wear. I used pallet knife heavily for this painting.

Battle of New Hope soldier

I created this gentleman when my husband didn't want his own portrait on the wall. We refer to him as the civil war ghost soldier who wanders in our back woods, and we craft yet another backstory. The influence and my love of fauvism is clearly seen!

Frederica River

My home is St. Simons Island. Departing after a visit is always poignant. I stopped on a bridge as I was leaving to snap this familiar view across the marsh and Frederica River.

Fine Art Painting

I think I was born with crayons in my hand. My mom is an artist, so it's not a crazy leap that I was an art major in college. I did however want to be employed, so I took a yearlong internship with a magazine where I learned PhotoShop and Quark. I still paint sporadically--depending on how well I cleaned my brushes the previous time.

My preference and emphasis in study was figurative painting. I failed sculpture.
